The Liverpool Football Club has finally confirmed the signing of young Portuguese attacker Fabio Carvalho who will join the club on 1st July.
Liverpool failed to sign the 19-year-old earlier this year in January but the Club has finally managed to bring him to Anfield. The Reds have signed Carvalho for the next 5 years and he will be a great aspect of the Club in the upcoming years. It is a great day for the Liverpool fans as they were waiting for this signing for almost 5 months.
Fabio Carvalho is a professional Portuguese footballer who was born on 30 August 2002. The 19-year-old made his international debut for Portugal’s under-21 side in March 2022. He has previously represented England at Under-15 and Under-18 levels. Carvalho plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for his side.
The 19-year-old has represented Balham at the under-15 level before getting signed by Fulham in the year 2015. He served Fulham for almost 5 years at the youth level and the club signed him for 2 years in 2020 which was his first professional contract. He has played a vital role in Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League this season as he managed to score 10 goals and registered eight assists in 38 appearances to help his side win the Championship title.
Carvalho made four appearances in Premier League for Fulham in the 2020/21 season. The first goal of Carvalho came in the English top-flight against Southampton in May 2021.
The young Portuguese midfielder came up through the ranks in Fulham’s academy, and he made 44 appearances for the west London club. He made 38 total appearances for Fulham and scored eleven goals and eight assists while playing just over 3,000 total minutes.
He thanked his former club and supporter from Fulham and said:
“I just want to say thank you for everything they’ve done for me, on and off the pitch. On the pitch, they’ve been singing my name and cheering me on, and off the pitch, they’re always greeting me.
“Even my family have fans going up to them, saying hello, which makes me happy.
“There’s obviously been ups and downs this season, but I’ve had some great messages from great fans.
“I just want to say a big thank you to all the Fulham fans, as without them I wouldn’t be in the position I am today, so thank you so much.”
Fabio Carvalho will join the Liverpool Club on 1st July when his contract with Fulham club expires, with Liverpool paying a £5M fee in advance along with a potential £2.7 million in add-ons, a result which has been supposed for a while but one that is still nice to get official verification of. Fulham Club holds a 20 percent sell-on clause.
Liverpool has ended their Premier League season with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Wolves but unfortunately, they fell just 1 point short of winning the Premier League title over Manchester City and the fans were shocked after this dramatic win against Manchester City.
Liverpool has already qualified for the final of the UEFA champions league 2022 and the news of the much-awaited signing of Fabio Carvalho might have healed the wound of Liverpool fans a bit. Liverpool has defeated the Villarreal in the semi-final and they will face the Real Madrid in the final of the UEFA Champions League on 29th May(Sunday).
Fabio Carvalho is likely to be a member of the Reds’ first-team squad for pre-season, including the two games in Asia – against Manchester United (that will be played in Bangkok and the second against Crystal Palace (Singapore).
