Roméo Lavia ‘breakthrough’ as Jürgen Klopp ‘offered’ $90m PSG man

Liverpool is facing a busy transfer window as Jürgen Klopp and Jörg Schmadtke assess potential deals. The club has multiple matters to consider, with interest in Fabinho and Jordan Henderson leading to bids being made for both players. As a result, Liverpool may need to secure two additional midfielders before their match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in just over three weeks.

Another crucial area for reinforcement is in central defense, as the squad must ensure ample strength in that department, especially with concerns about Joël Matip and Joe Gomez’s reliability.

The most immediate priority, however, lies in bolstering the center of the pitch. Losing Fabinho would be a significant blow, as he was expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming season had he remained with the club.

Let’s now take a closer look at the transfer rumors surrounding Liverpool today, focusing on two players with different levels of experience and the likelihood of joining Anfield this summer:

Roméo Lavia: Liverpool has reportedly made significant progress in their pursuit of Southampton midfielder Roméo Lavia. According to Spanish newspaper Sport (via Paisley Gates), Liverpool is in contention to sign the 19-year-old, with Arsenal, Manchester United, and Barcelona also expressing interest. The potential transfer fee for Lavia is around $45 million (£35 million/€40 million), which is considerably lower than the previously speculated price tag.

Marco Verratti: The agent of Marco Verratti, the Italian midfielder currently playing for PSG, has offered his client’s services to several clubs this summer, including Liverpool. Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol revealed this information. However, PSG is determined not to let go of the 30-year-old for a bargain and would demand as much as $90 million (£70 million/€80 million) for his departure. Given Verratti’s age, Liverpool may be hesitant to pursue such a costly signing despite his experience and quality.

As the summer transfer window progresses, Liverpool will undoubtedly weigh their options carefully and make strategic decisions to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
