Premier League legend Ian Wright has voiced his support for Liverpool in the title race this season, citing their experience and recent impressive performances, especially their dominant win over Bournemouth.
Following Liverpool’s 4-0 victory at the Vitality Stadium, propelling them five points clear at the top of the table, Wright expressed his confidence in Jurgen Klopp’s side on his podcast, Wrighty’s House. Despite missing key players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, the Reds showcased their depth and resilience.
Wright highlighted the contributions of players like Darwin Nunez, Ibrahima Konate, and Virgil Van Dijk, praising the team’s solidity in defense. He also commended the performance of young talent Conor Bradley, who has been contributing effectively.
With Liverpool currently on a five-match winning streak across all competitions, Wright emphasized the team’s familiarity with the challenges of a title race, drawing on their past experiences. He particularly praised the recent display of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, contributing to his belief that Liverpool is a strong contender.
As the Reds sit at the top of the table with 48 points after 21 games, three more than during their last serious title challenge in the 2021/22 season, Wright sees a promising path for Klopp’s team. Liverpool’s next Premier League fixture is against Chelsea at Anfield on January 31, followed by a challenging away game against title rivals Arsenal on February 4.
