Liverpool Given Opportunity to Secure “World Class” Manager for £9m

Liverpool is presented with the chance to potentially secure Roberto De Zerbi from Brighton this summer by triggering a release clause in his contract.

Reportedly, De Zerbi’s contract with Brighton includes a €10m (£9m) release clause, coupled with an agreement preventing him from leaving mid-season. Brighton aims to increase this clause to €15m (£13m) by extending his contract until 2027, as negotiations for renewal have seen little progress.

With Jurgen Klopp’s potential replacement in mind, Liverpool has internally discussed the prospect of hiring De Zerbi, lauded as “world class” by Levi Colwill. De Zerbi, recognized as one of Europe’s most promising coaches, boasts 23 wins from 56 Premier League games with Brighton and has steered them into the UEFA Europa League Round of 16.

Additionally, Liverpool has reportedly inquired about hiring Xabi Alonso, with no release clause in his contract with Bayer Leverkusen. Fernando Carro, Chief Executive Officer at Bayer Leverkusen, confirmed this, emphasizing the club’s commitment to respecting Alonso’s wishes regarding his future.

The managerial landscape at Liverpool remains intriguing, with names like Ruben Amorim of Sporting CP also surfacing alongside Alonso and De Zerbi. As talks progress, Liverpool faces a pivotal decision in shaping its future leadership.
