Liverpool’s Center-Back Dilemma: Konate Out, Youngster Nallo In Against Man City

Ibrahima Konate’s injury setback rules him out of Liverpool’s squad against Man City, with the 17-year-old Amara Nallo stepping in as a replacement.

Konate’s hamstring injury, sustained during Thursday’s match against Sparta Prague, has left him sidelined, casting doubts over his availability for the crucial clash with Man City.

The Liverpool squad, including the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones, returned to the Titanic Hotel after their pre-match walk, with Nallo accompanying them as cover. The academy defender, who usually features for the Liverpool U21s, was pulled from the Sunday game against Reading, with Carter Pinnington taking his place alongside Rhys Williams.

Despite no fresh injuries in the first team, Jayden Danns continues to follow concussion protocol after a head injury against Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile, youngsters Bobby Clark, James McConnell, Conor Bradley, and 16-year-old Kornel Misciur are part of the squad, with the latter serving as the third goalkeeper.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is anticipated to make significant changes for the high-stakes Premier League encounter, including a switch in the center-back position. Jarell Quansah is favored to start in place of the injured Konate, although Joe Gomez remains an option should he not be required at full-back.
