Liverpool’s Konate Absent, Academy Defender Nallo Called Up for Man City Clash

Liverpool’s squad for the highly anticipated clash against Manchester City lacks the presence of Ibrahima Konate, who seems to have failed to recover from his injury. Instead, 17-year-old Amara Nallo has been drafted into the squad as cover.

Konate, who sustained a suspected hamstring injury during Thursday’s victory over Sparta Prague, underwent a scan to assess his condition. Despite initial doubts about his availability for the Man City game, the French defender appears to have been ruled out entirely.

The Liverpool squad, comprising 21 players, embarked on their customary pre-match walk, but Konate was notably absent. Meanwhile, injured players Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones arrived separately, alongside academy prospect Nallo, who seems to have been brought in as a replacement.

Nallo, a summer signing from West Ham, has been a regular feature for Liverpool’s U21 side this season. Despite his young age, he has been called up to provide cover for the first team in Konate’s absence.

Fortunately for Liverpool, there are no new injuries among the first-team players, with key figures like Joe Gomez, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Dominik Szoboszlai all included in the squad as expected. However, Jayden Danns continues to follow concussion protocol after sustaining a head injury in a previous fixture, forcing him to miss out on the upcoming clash.
