Sparta Prague’s manager, Brian Priske, conceded that Liverpool’s caliber belonged in the Champions League after witnessing his side’s defeat at Anfield on Thursday night.
Despite Sparta already trailing 5-1 from the first leg of the Europa League last 16 tie, Liverpool surged to a commanding 4-0 lead within the first 15 minutes, courtesy of goals from Darwin Nunez, Bobby Clark, Mo Salah, and Cody Gakpo. While Sparta managed to pull one goal back before half-time, Dominik Szoboszlai and Gakpo extended Liverpool’s lead, resulting in a comprehensive 6-1 victory on the night and an 11-2 aggregate triumph.
Manager Priske hailed Liverpool’s performance over both legs as a testament to their world-class quality, acknowledging their dominance in the encounter. Speaking after the match, he expressed his admiration for Liverpool’s approach and the sheer quality they displayed on the pitch.
