Fabrizio Romano’s Insight on Saudi Interest in Mo Salah

Fabrizio Romano has shed light on the ongoing interest from Saudi Pro League clubs in signing Mohamed Salah, asserting that they are likely to pursue him again this summer. Despite the allure of potential offers, Salah expresses contentment with his current role at Liverpool.

Despite a brief spell on the sidelines due to injury, the 31-year-old has delivered an outstanding performance for Liverpool in the 2023/24 season, netting 21 goals across all competitions. His recent goal in the 6-1 victory over Sparta Prague marked a historic achievement, making him the first Liverpool player to score 20 or more goals in seven consecutive seasons.

Salah’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire in 2025, prompting speculation about his future. Reports suggest that incoming sporting director Richard Hughes intends to initiate discussions regarding Salah’s tenure at the club.

Last summer, Salah attracted serious interest from the Saudi Pro League, with Al Ittihad tabling a substantial bid, which was ultimately rejected by Liverpool. It is anticipated that Saudi clubs will reignite their pursuit of Salah in the forthcoming months, especially if his intentions remain ambiguous.

Romano emphasized that while the Saudis persist in their pursuit, Salah’s decision hinges on the project presented to him post-Jurgen Klopp’s era. Despite the looming interest, Salah remains focused on Liverpool’s ongoing campaign.

Reports from Anfield Watch suggest that Salah is open to extending his contract with Liverpool, notwithstanding external interest. However, the terms of the potential offer from Liverpool’s revamped leadership are yet to be disclosed, raising questions about Salah’s future amidst lucrative propositions.
