Liverpool Launch Ambitious Bid for £25.7 Million Spanish Defender

Liverpool is intensifying its efforts to bolster its defensive lineup in the upcoming summer transfer window, with Dean Huijsen emerging as the latest target.

According to the latest reports from La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Juventus is aiming to raise funds through the potential sales of Bremer and Huijsen, as they seek to reinforce their squad in the upcoming transfer window. While Juventus values Brazilian international Bremer at a hefty 60 to 70 million euros, Spanish defender Huijsen is priced at approximately 30 million euros (£25.7 million).

Huijsen, who spent the first half of the season warming the bench at Juventus before moving on loan to Roma in January, has grabbed the opportunity to showcase his talent. Since his move to Roma, the 18-year-old has made significant strides, starting three Serie A games for the Giallorossi, contributing to three clean sheets, scoring two goals, and providing an assist.

Roma has expressed interest in extending Huijsen’s loan for another season with the option to make the move permanent. However, Liverpool has signaled its intent with reports suggesting they are preparing a substantial offer to secure Huijsen’s services. Furthermore, RB Leipzig and Dortmund are also reportedly interested in the promising young defender.

Born in the Netherlands, Huijsen recently switched allegiance to Spain and represented their U-21 side during the international break.

Despite the injury to Matip, Liverpool boasts considerable depth in defense with standout players like Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, and Quansah available for the central defensive positions. However, the question remains whether Liverpool should invest £25.7 million to acquire Huijsen’s talents as a potential replacement for Joel Matip.
