According to reports from Spain, Liverpool are prepared to pay the €60 million (£50.5 million) release clause to acquire Takefusa Kubo from Real Sociedad.

Diario AS has reported that the Reds have ‘intensified their interest’ in the talented Japanese playmaker. Kubo, who has traveled with Real Sociedad for their pre-season tour in Japan, has been a target for Liverpool for some time. Now, the Merseyside club appears ready to make a decisive move to secure his signing.

If Liverpool proceeds with the deal, Real Madrid, which included a 50 percent sell-on clause when they sold Kubo to Sociedad for €6 million, will receive €27 million of the transfer fee.

Kubo, a natural right winger, would provide essential cover for Mohamed Salah and potentially succeed him at Anfield. Last season, the 23-year-old contributed 11 goals in La Liga, while Salah made 28 direct contributions in the Premier League.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp needs to bring in a world-class player or someone with significant potential to eventually replace Salah. While Kubo is yet to reach his peak, his current performances suggest he could develop into a key player for Liverpool.
