Fabrizio Romano Confirms Darwin Nunez Set for Liverpool Exit This Summer

As Liverpool edge closer to their 20th top-flight title, eyes are already turning toward the upcoming transfer window — and big changes are looming at Anfield.

According to trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano, Darwin Nunez is now expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the season. Both the club and the player are reportedly ready to part ways, barring any last-minute surprises.

Nunez has struggled for consistent starts this campaign, featuring 42 times across all competitions but making just 17 starts under Arne Slot. Liverpool previously rejected a £70 million bid from Saudi Arabia in January, but fresh interest remains from Saudi clubs and European sides including Atletico Madrid.

A key factor in the club’s decision could be a performance-based clause in the original deal with Benfica: if Nunez reaches 60 starts in the Premier League and Champions League, Liverpool owe an additional €5 million. He currently sits on 59 — making another start this season unlikely.

As speculation ramps up, several strikers have been linked as possible replacements, including Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Victor Osimhen. While Liverpool’s next no.9 remains a mystery, what’s becoming increasingly clear is that Darwin Nunez’s time at Anfield may be nearing its end.
